The drawing of the Revolving Bridge is located on the Codex Atlanticus (Milan), folio 855 recto. It is the best known of the many bridges conceived by Leonardo in his drawings.
The lattice structure is made stable by a counterweight that through the tie rods, moves the center of gravity on the rotation pin planted on the ground.
In modern times similar solutions have been adopted for the construction of various large structures such as bridges and barriers, with the advantage of being put in place at the time of need and to rapidly retract it in the original position.
The model uses three types of wood; Walnut, birch and poplar, according to assembly needs. Although complex, the assembly is easy, thanks to the modular construction described in the leaflet inside the package.
